There seems to be some mis-understanding about flying in warning areas in the US.
My partner can fly without contacting the airport because he has FAA 107 certification.
Without certification, you can fly in warning areas as long as you call the airport and notify them. Certainly not all areas. But I’ve called 10 different airports and have gotten permission 10 times. So if you live near a small airport- and you’re within 5 miles of them and your Karma says restricted zone, just call the airport and get permission. Usually it’s no problem.
I use the FAA app B4UFLY to tell me which airports I have to contact- it’s free!
Hope that helps—
