The Karma doesn't "fly away" persay. It loses GPS signal or loses video feed while you are continuing to fly in a set direction. Never fly out of the line of sight and learn the differences between GPS flight and no GPS flight. Makes a large difference.

The drone is a solid product at a solid price with amazing value. We are a few bad experiences out of hundreds of thousands of customers. That being said Go Pro killed themselves but not providing better safety features built into the drone.

You didn't do anything wrong. Just were not properly prepared for losing GPS mid flight and in turn lost control. Flying without GPS is completely different and VERY difficult. It is easy to learn if you can learn it but thats the problem with Karma, you can not turn off GPS to practice flying...

Did it prompt you to calibrate before flight? Karma will TELL YOU if it needs to be calibrated before flight. The only reason it would need to be calibrated before flight is if the terrain is different. A flat field at 1000 ft elevation with no obstructions is the same as a 1000 ft elevation...

You would not be a slave to GPS mode if you fly in advanced pilot mode. To my understanding though you can not turn off the GPS on the Karma. Therefor GoPro must want to replace every drone I crash free of charge as they are not providing me with the ability to learn their product the right way.
