Intro:
In this series of threads, I will be analyzing crash videos in an effort to learn more about the limitations of technology in the Karma Drone, and how to avoid such issues myself. Hopefully such analysis will help us all fly better and avoid potentially problematic flights. I'm interested in hearing from other experienced pilots regarding their observations or "tips of the trade".
Pilot Statement:"I turn left, he goes to the right"
Analysis:
This pilot does gives us lots of information to work with, including POV Video and map information. The map shows that the pilot few the drone out of line of site and behind a concrete wall. This, combined with the fact that the Mavic downward facing sensors don't register over water very well, likely led to a slight drift to the right causing a crash.
When pilots push boundaries...bad things can happen.
