Follow gopro online instructions and manually reload all software. Hopefully that solves the issue.

Try flying in an open field away from power lines, metal objects, cars, etc. Make sure you have no error messages on controller. Fly aways seem to be common. Contact GoPro.

I have seen YouTube videos of the Karma landing on the water using foam noddles mounted on the landing gear. The water was very calm. It's a risk I would not be willing to take even if I was a good drone pilot.
