    Karma drone disappears

Karma uses wifi frequencies. The drone creates a wifi network, mine uses channel 11 (2462 MHz) but others have documented channel 1, and the controller logs onto it as best I can tell. You can see it if you use a wifi sniffer app on your phone. The 802.11 workgroup has documented use in five...

My Karma drone fell out of the sky.

In a word, yes. I just had mine replaced under warranty after it did this back in Sept. Hovering at about 40 feet, just lost power and dropped to the ground w/ 9 min left on battery. I posted a video here and sent a copy to Go Pro along w/ the logs. The process was a few weeks long but not...

    Did i make a mistake?

To clarify, I was answering the question about LIABILITY insurance. What happens if your drone flies away in NYC and, I don't know, runs into a helicopter ? Or, more likely, your drone veers off and hits someone, cutting them badly. Verifly, for as little as $10 can give you liabilty insurance...

Verifly app for liability insurance. Super easy and convenient.

    Cause? Because Karma can?

    Who's Brave?

My index was 2 on Saturday and I got a full power failure/drop test. No thanks

    Crashes

Had a very similar situation on the same day as you. After the previous flight being a near disaster with lost gps over water ( story here ) , I purchased a trackimo, fitted new props, and went out for a test flight in my cul-de-sac. Wifi sniffer shows no channel 1 interference (my drone...

    GPS Tracker

You can set it to only transmit a location only when pinged by a phone app, or any other interval down to 1 min; however, I wouldn't bet there isn't any passive RFI even if it doesn't transmit. I am not totally happy as it seems to fall "asleep" when set to transmit at an interval and not update...

    GPS Tracker

The particular one I purchased, trackimo, uses a 3g cellular connection. There is also a BT functionality, like the tiles, to help you zero in on it when you get close. In answer to the other question, it doesn't keep the drone from flying away but helps increase the odds of you finding it...

    Interference: Theory of workaround, maybe?

Any thing with wifi, not just other drones, and one might be surprised at all the things that have built in wifi these days, and/or operate in the same spectrum, even in places like the state park I was in when mine went wonky.

    Interference: Theory of workaround, maybe?

As a follow-up, and to test a personal theory, I changed my personal wifi devices in my home to channel 1 and restarted the drone. My thought was that, perhaps, the drone has a routine to choose a channel not likely to be overrun with other strong devices nearby; however, even sitting right next...

    Interference: Theory of workaround, maybe?

I'm not a computer guy, but understand what's being said to some degree. I reactivated an old android phone, downloaded a wifi sniffer and my GAE511********* is on Channel 1. It is tied to the Karma, too, not the controller as I turn the controller off and it stays active. Turn the drone off and...

    Software Update Warning

See my post here, same deal. I never had problems with connection, before this update, for the first month of ownership.

July 2017 Update of Karma to version 1.51 and missing communication to the Stabilizer

I, too, have reservations about the firmware update that was pushed out in the last few days. Updated to 1.51 on camera, controller, and Karma and took the drone to a nearby lake with a large parking lot to film at sunset. In the middle of a large boat, ramp area, the drone had multiple...
